About The Dynamites

The Plantation Dynamites is a program funded and operated by the Plantation Athletic League (P.A.L.) that provides weekly sport and social activities for the mentally and or physically challenged. All activities offered by the program are held in the city of Plantation. The program has no age limit and no city restrictions, meaning those of all ages and residents of all cities are encouraged and welcomed to join the Dynamites. The program takes no part in advertising the program, but rely strictly on word of mouth to spread information about the Dynamites.

The program is lead by its commissioner and director Luz Marina Sementilli. Sementilli took over the Dynamites a little over 15 years ago. She started out as the previous commissioners assistant and later took over as the full time leader of the program. Sementilli’s eldest son was once a former dynamite many years ago. Today, Luz Marina Sementilli works alongside her husband and her second son.

Benefits Of the Program

The Dynamites provide countless benefits for both its participants and its volunteers. The obvious benefit is that they help those who are mentally or physically challenged by offering them various activities to participate in. But they also benefit the regular population as well. The program receives assistance in the form of volunteers, most of which are high school or college students.

The biggest benefit of the Plantation Dynamites is love. Love is what the Plantation Dynamites are all about. Whether you are a member, a parent, or a volunteer, when you take part in the program, you are there to give love as well as to receive it. “We learn from each other. We help each other. That’s the whole essence.” States the commissioner.
